Miyana
Incomplete RPG
March 4th, 2012?

Miyana is an RPG I was working on somewhere in the range of 2010 to 2012. I was using the program RPG Maker XP. I had a general idea of where I wanted the story to go but a lot of the finer details I just kind of made up as I created each part. This entire project was quite ambitious and even though I created enough game to take several hours to complete, it still only encompasses maybe 25% of what I wanted the finished product to be. I no longer have a working copy of RPG Maker XP and have no current plans on completing this game. At one time I thought about remaking it in RPG Maker VX Ace but abandoned the idea after realizing how long it would take just to get back to the point I was previously at.

What is here is what is here, an incomplete saga. I assume RPG Maker XP is required to run the game (a free version should suffice). There may be bugs that cause story stoppages that I am unaware of. There may also be odd debug sections that I sort of hid so that I could test things faster. The game as is takes maybe 4 hours to complete going at a standard RPG pace. Once you reach the Miyana Catacombs then that is as far into the game as I programmed. I will post as many details about the game as I remember in the sections below.

Story

Act 1: Goblin Rescue      You assume the character Warren, a Fighter. You begin the game in your hometown of Goren Village. Suddenly a Goblin raid hits the village and Goblins kidnap your friend Claudia, a White Mage. It is up to you to venture out into Goren Forest and track down the Goblins and rescue her before she is eaten.

Act 2: Seeking Aid      Upon successfully rescuing Claudia, you both decide to venture north to the town of Tobi in order to seek aid in fending off the ever increasing Goblin raids. Tobi is the capital of the Tobi Wilderness region and your goal is to speak to Governor Klein and ask him to send soldiers to defeat the Goblins. But after arriving in Tobi you are met with resistance and soldiers that are too busy worrying about Bandit raids than listening to your problems. When you finally find a way to speak to the Governor he declines to help you, siting a Bandit threat. He does reveal tales of a sword of Goblin Slaying that was stolen by the Bandits.

Act 3: Bandits      You decide to track down the Bandits and recover the Goblin Slayer. Upon finding their secret hideout you are immediately captured. The Bandits are commanded by a young woman by the name of Sophia. After some time you manage to convince her that all you want is the sword to defend your home village. She agrees to tell you where the sword is if you help her recover an undisclosed artifact. The artifact is currently in the possession of Logan, a Red Mage. Unfortunately Logan's last know whereabouts is the mountain town called Grutz...which is quite a distance away.

Act 4: Journey to Grutz      You and Claudia pack your bags and begin the long journey to Grutz. After walking across fields, plains and rugged hills, you finally reach the Adamant Mountains. When the town of Grutz is finally in sight, you are attacked by a giant Adamant Roc. Sophia, who had been secretly following you, aids you in defeating the large bird. The three of you finish the journey and finally reach Grutz.

Act 5: Shady Figures      Grutz is a large mountain town that was once the capital of the Adamant region. However, this once fine city has devolved into a haven for criminals. You have to navigate streets full of cutthroats and petty thieves in order to find Logan. After a brief fight, a powerful Demon named Rozor suddenly appears. Rozor strikes down most of your party and leaves with the mysterious artifact that Sophia was seeking. It turns out that Sophia was a reluctant pawn of Rozor but is quickly discarded once he got what he had come for. Claudia heals the party and Logan reveals that Rozor stole a fake artifact. The real artifact, the Gem of Wisps, was hidden inside of a nearby mine. Logan joins your party.

Act 6: Goblin Slayer      With the Gem of Wisps in your possession, the four of you travel south to the nearby town of Quartz, the new capital of the Adamant region. Using the Gem of Wisps in conjunction with a previously broken teleportation device, you are able to instantly return to Tobi. Sophia reveals that the Goblin Slayer was turned over to Rozor, but she knows where it is currently being stored. Your party ventures north into Crater Swamp where you find entry into a dark and forbodding underground castle. Using speed and stealth you manage to recover the Goblin Slayer and escape with your lives before you are overwhelmed by powerful demons. With the Goblin Slayer finally in your possession, you return to Governor Klein.

Act 7: Hope      With the Bandit threat tempered for now and the Goblin Slayer in hand, Governor Klein agrees to send soldiers to defend Goren Village. You arrive in your hometown just in time as a large horde of Goblins attacks. After successfully defending the village, your party agrees that the fight must be taken to the Goblins in order to ensure the safety of Goren Village once and for all. You travel east into the Whisper Hills and then deep underground where you encounter the Goblin Overlord. You easily defeat the Goblin but are too late as a powerful and demonic ritual is enacted that transforms the Goblin Overlord into a demonic beast. After an epic battle, you kill the demon and recover what appears to be a magical crystal. The Crystal of Hope.

Act 8: Warning      After witnessing this demonic ritual, your party quickly returns to Governor Klein to warn him that demons are returning to the world. But when you return to Tobi, you find the Governor is dead, brutally murdered by some unseen foe. Sophia, who happened to be his daughter, blames Rozor and storms out of the manor on a quest for revenge. You, Claudia and Logan agree that this is a threat to the entire Kingdom of Miyana and that you must seek out the King himself. Using the Gem of Wisps, you arrive in Lower Miyana but are barred from entering the upper-city for some unknown reason. You must find another way into the city by transversing the old cave system in the eastern foothills.

Act 9: King      Upon finding the old cave system, you come across two women that are under attack by Dwarves. You aid them and discover that one of them is in fact Princess Alesnina. She warns you not to enter the upper city and that her father's soul has been lost to darkness. She says she is without hope and leaves. After following her and showing her the Crystal of Hope, you convince her to aid you in reaching the upper city. You then navigate an extensive cave network and finally reach the Miyana Cathedral and the upper city.

Unfinished Story

As I am not going to finish this RPG I can reveal the remainer of the story. I don't have all of the details planned out and I might have gone in a different direction had I actually continued but this is how the rest might have played out:

Act 10:      Your party will finally reach the King but he has gone mad and will ignore your warnings. He announces that 5 crystals need to be attuned and that 2 of them are already complete. Your party is then arrested and imprisoned. Nina will eventually rescue you but as the four of you reach the teleportation pad in Lower Miyana you are surrounded by the King's soldiers. Nina stands to fight and Logan pushes you and Claudia into the portal to Tobi while he stays behind to help her.

Act 11:      Not sure of what to do, you and Claudia return to Goren Village to regroup. Upon arriving you will find it completely destroyed. Claudia is distraught and runs off leaving you alone for the first time since the start of the game. You head south of Goren Village into the farmlands to search for survivors. There you find monsters setting up a crystal for attunement. You band a group of survivors together to fight the monsters. While you are successful at clearing the area, you are too late as the crystal is attuned by a Dread Wolf. You learn the Dread Wolf headed south with the crystal afterwards and you go in pursuit.

Act 12:      You track the Dread Wolf through the southern coastal foothills. Eventually you succeed in killing it and recover the Crystal of Heart. You learn of a wiseman named Cain who may have information about what is truely going on.

Act 13:      You travel far to the east of the Whisper Foothills to the vast eastern desert. You find Cain in the city of Istapul. You learn from him that there are 5 attunement points that 5 different crystals need to be attuned at. The demon Rozor is attempting to bring back to life the demonic god Lysander. Cain tells you that Quartz is likely the site of the next attunement and you decide to head there to stop it.

Act 14:      After arriving in Quartz you discover that everything within the town seems perfectly normal. You confront Lady Anabel and she confirms that she is aware of the demonic threat. She joins your party and offers to take you to the site of the attunement. You suspect her of evil and after arriving at the attunement site deep underground she turns on you and casts a spell of imprisonment. Helpless to interfere, you watch as monsters arrive to attune the Crystal of Mind. However, before the attunement can be completed, Lady Anabel suddenly strikes down the monsters. She reveals she was only pretending to work with the monsters and was waiting for her chance to destroy them all. Out of nowhere a powerful creature emerges and strikes down Lady Anabel, significantly wounding her. Free of her spell, your party leaps into action and defeat the beast, but not before the 4th crystal attunement can be completed.

Act 15:      You return to Istapul to find Cain dead. You manage to uncover the last of his research which reveals the location of the final crystal needed for attunement. You search the ancient Sand Pyramid and after a series of riddles you find the Crystal of Soul. Rozor suddenly appears and is about to kill you when Sophia lunges at him. She manages to wound him but Rozor also mortally wounds her as well. Rozor takes the final crystal and retreats.

Act 16:      You take a badly injured Sophia back to Tobi where you suddenly encounter Claudia. She heals the wounds effortlessly and says that she found a way to fight the demons.

Acts 17+:
Eventually you return and dipose of the evil King in Miyana and rescue Logan and Nina. You recover the Crystal of Body.
You travel into the frozen tundra of the north to find Rozor and kill him. You recover the Crystal of Soul and now possess all 5 crystals.
Again Rozor had alraedy attuned the final crystal so you have to travel deep into the Tower of Lysander and slay the demonic god onec and for all.
The Tower of Lysander would be located somewhere in the middle of the world map. There are many wings of the tower that lead into the heart of it. One wing is discovered early on in the game in Crater Swamp.

Potential Side Quests:
* Fven's Treasure Horde located deep under Fven Valley.
* Tomb of Ancient Evil located in the Silent Willow. You have to be a high level to enter and find the random and rare encounter inside that zone.
* Lava Vein would involve fighting monsters inside of a mine near the town of Grutz.
* You can choose to fight the Dwarves by locating and traveling through their caves in Miyana.
* Tomb of King Grabel would be a major side quest that could only be accessed by completing 3 other side quests.
   - Trail of Kings Adamant Key riddle.
   - Tomb of Sir Lyon, recover the Silver Key.
   - Madness and the Golden Key. Slay the demonic King.
