05-10-2004; 1:52pm Just left home driving down 100th Street.
05-10-2004; 2:00pm Returning home soon after. Probably just went out for food.

05-10-2004; 2:48pm A poor young tree trying to stay upright in daily windy conditions.
05-11-2004; 1:22pm The outer backyard beyond the wooden fence. Most of it was barren. The center was a large entangled mess of overgrown bushes.

05-11-2004; 1:24pm For about a month prior to this picture strange winds kept picking up right outside of the house. When these winds occurred the entire house
would suddenly shudder and a torrent of howling wind would suddenly blow through the yard and rip up as many plants as it could. Sometimes it could throw
tumbleweeds up to 8 feet into the air!

05-11-2004; 1:26pm Tumbleweeds cling to the fences. Traces of snow cling to the mountain tops.
05-11-2004; 1:27pm The recent strange winds blew many of the tumbleweeds into this corner of the backyard. I lived at that house for a few years and that
month was the only time it ever happened. Another odd thing, all of the adjacent lots were left largely untouched.
05-12-2004; 4:15pm Eventually the entire acre of land was completely picked clean of rooted tumbleweeds.

05-20-2004; 3:57pm I was bored and felt like bothering some ants. I placed a stick in their hole and they had a hard time getting in and out. It was
funny watching them start bunching up and trying to squeeze by each other.
05-28-2004; 12:01pm I walked outside and saw a mouse sitting on the ground in the backyard. I thought maybe one of my dogs had killed it because it wasn't
moving. I finally leaned in close and it squirmed. I picked it up (wearing gloves) and brought it inside before a dog found it.
05-28-2004; 12:01pm It was barely bigger than my thumb. I didn't know what to do with it since it didn't seem very good at survival if it let me pick it up
with no challenge.
05-28-2004; 12:01pm I gave it food and water and kept it in my bedroom overnight inside of a large box. It slowly started becoming more animated and by the
time I went to sleep it had already escaped the shelter I had made for it (it must have been able to jump over a foot high).
05-29-2004; 1:43pm When morning came I found it inside my dirty laundry. I decided to release it outside in the big backyard away from the dogs.
05-29-2004; 1:43pm The little mouse disappeared underneath this discarded table.
05-31-2004; 4:26pm A lizard just hanging out.

07-12-2004; 6:42pm The Newbury Park house has no air conditioning. It gets very warm inside during the summer.
