The Go-Kart Race Dreamt Wednesday July 16th, 2008 A lot of this dream I can no longer remember. A significant portion of it was spent outside of my house wandering around in the middle of the night. I might have gotten in my car and driven around somewhere at some point. I may even have lost my car again or perhaps it was stolen...as I has been in many past dreams. But all-in-all this portion of the dream wasn't worth remembering for me. The interesting part of the dream came when I found myself at what appeared to be a Go-Kart racing track. I was in charge of healing my racer whenever he finished a lap. I guess somehow the drivers took damage along the track and each one needed a healer in order to remain in top driving form. The race gets underway and I am just standing around waiting for my racer to finish a lap. There is a large monitor nearby showing the progression of the race and the current "health bars" of each racer. I may have gotten stuck with a lousy racer because the health bar on mine seemed to go down a lot faster than anyone elses. And several of the racers seemed to remain at 100% health the entire time. Finally my racer finishes the first lap and comes in for a pit stop. I approach the Go-Kart and raise my right hand towards it. I didn't notice anything happening but the health bar on the screen rose indicating that the racer was being healed. As the healing progressed I quickly developed a stinging pain in the palm of my hand. The longer I kept healing the worse the pain got. It began to spread through my veins to about halfway to my elbow before the racer was fully healed. All of this takes place in the span of about 10-15 seconds. The racer then drives off. The pain immediately eased as soon as the healing stopped. I looked down at my palm and noticed it was bleeding. However a few seconds later the wound completely closes and disappears. This was only the second dream I can remember where I felt the sensation of pain. It was very uncomfortable for the seconds it lasted and I was definately not looking forward to the next pit stop. Soon enough my racer returned. I decided to do something different this go around. This time when I healed the racer I started off with my right hand until it was just starting to hurt. Then I switched over to my left hand and continued the healing until it also started to hurt. I then switched back and forth between hands until the racer was healed and drove off. I suffered very little pain with this new approach. For whatever reason during the race I lost interest and stopped healing my racer. At the end of the race I looked over at the monitor and noticed my racer had 6% health and was in last place. Oops. Soon after that I woke up.
