Dungeon Crusade
Page Last Updated: February 23rd, 2008

Dungeon Crusade is a Turn Based RPG (new game genre!...) where you are sent to some mysterious ruins to rid a dark and dangerous dungeon of evil. Along the way you will meet a host of people and creatures: some friendly, some hostile, and some simply don't care about you one way or another. You will collect weapons, armor, and strange items as you go deeper and deeper into the dungeon. Kill monsters to gain experience and learn powerful magics to defeat your enemies.

Since I decided to create this game back in August 2004, I have been tweaking it every few months to try to improve the features and reduce the bugs. I don't know if I'll ever be satisfied with this game to stop tweaking it and stop calling it a "BETA" version. The game utilizes some ideas from Diablo II (Life, Mana, the magical resistances, and some items) and many of the skills are from various RPGs. This game is also somewhat related to my Forgotten Dungeons text game I created many years back and several ideas from that game are used in this one. All of that combined with a lot of game play and thoughts that fell out of my head: Dungeon Crusade.

- Dying may not be the worst outcome for your character...
- Options to speed up or slow down the game.

Monster Types:
Zombies are for the most part mindless corpses that will attack you with their hands and teeth. Some varieties deeper in the dungeon possess dangerous poison attacks as well as mana draining skills.
Skeletons are the animated bones of former warriors and mages. Some may wield weapons while others may be enchanted with dangerous magic.
Animals is a type that comprises of typical creatures found in any dank dungeon. They will attack to defend their residence.
Goblins are mean spirited imps who rob and injure those who would venture close to their homes. They generally inhabit caverns and abandoned dungeons. A few goblins have been known to be tolerant of sunlight and are less hostile than their cavern dwelling brethren.
Gremlins are nasty little monsters that enjoy frightening and harming would-be adventurers.
Humans make up a sizable part of the encounters you will come across, especially early on. Many of the humans will be adventurers like yourself and will be friendly towards you. However, many still have spent far too long down in the dungeon and have been corrupted by its evil. Humans have a variety of talents from melee and ranged weapons to powerful magic and healing spells.
Vampires are undead people who feast on the blood of the living. Any human killed by a vampire is transformed into a vampire. Some vampires have been known to utilize magic.
Werewolves are fierce beasts that stalk the night and will not hesitate to tear apart anyone who comes in contact. Any human killed by a werewolf is transformed into a werewolf.
Ghosts are the spirits of deceased people who are for some reason unable to completely pass on. Residing in a dungeon infested with evil often causes ghosts to lose control and blindly attack anyone who gets close.
Golems are animated monsters created by powerful mages. They can be created out of almost any material and can be used to serve a wide variety of functions.
Ogres are tall and very strong beasts that enjoy nothing more than violence and crunching bones.
Demonspawn were once natural creatures that have now been twisted by powerful demonic energies. They exist only to serve the demonic hordes.
Dragons are extremely dangerous beasts that can sometimes be found in the depths of caverns and dungeons. They are very strong and come with a variety of deadly breath attacks.
Elementals are created by powerful mages generally to defend an area from intrusion. They use fire, ice, or lightning attacks and are completely immune to the magical type they use. Some of the more powerful elementals can use all of the elements at once.
Demons come to this world from the netherworld to spread chaos and destruction. They often possess powerful magic and are extremely strong and hard to kill. Preventing them from getting their spells off is a must.
