Civilization III
Page Last Updated: February 23rd, 2008

I've loved the Civilization series ever since Civilization I. I spent countless hours at a time on Civ I and would often have to fight amongst family members for playing time. I have Civ 1, Civ 2 + expansions, Civ 3 + expansions, and now Civ 4. And whenever Civilization 5 comes out I'm sure I'll have it the very same day. While playing Civ offers endless hours of enjoyment, making maps and scenerios for Civ has always been a joy as well. Although I've never become some kind of insane Civ savant (beating the hardest difficulties of each), I feel I am a respectable player and I have never lost a multiplayer match of any Civ game (granted my Civ multiplayer career is somewhat limited).

This is just your typical resource map for four players that includes all of the resources piled everywhere. A simple map for a quick game.

This map is similar to the Four Player Rumble except that it is much larger and designed for 16 players. Tons of resources for everyone. I like how the design came out and the little islands scattered around it.

I felt like making a chess board one day and then added a bunch of little islands around the edges for player starting locations. I didn't want the players to start on the board since that would have unbalanced it further since the terrain is not evenly distributed. This map doesn't work with computer players though because the computer is too dumb to leave their island.

This is just a simple small map with some strategic terrain to help defend land and a spattering of resources here and there.

The idea behind this map is pretty simple. All of the best land and many of the resources are in the middle of the map. Therefore you want your civilization to control the middle of the map to have the best chance at winning. Everyone starts in a desert so they'd better expand quickly to get useable land.
Capital: Download [Conquests, 8 Players, Melee, 60x60]

Capital is similar to my 4 and 16 player rumble maps except with a different design and more players squeezed onto a tiny map. All of the resources are there as before except there are far fewer whales and fish. The middle of the map is a great defensive position to hold off land invasions.

I decided to make a map of Southern California. I think it came out pretty well. On the northern edge you have Bakersfield. On the southern edge you have San Diego. To the west is of course the Pacific Ocean and on the eastern edge is the colorado river. Somewhat near the middle of the map you have Los Angeles.
