Road Trip

Back

These are pictures of what turned into a road trip from Palmdale, California to Highlands Ranch, Colorado. We left just before 2pm on Friday June 11th, 2004 and eventually arrived around 4:15pm on Sunday June 13th. I don't remember where many of these pictures were taken so I could be wrong about some of them. I also had to condense their size so they may be a bit grainy.

Departed Palmdale around 2pm Friday June 11th. This is the scenery I'm going to be seeing for a long time...

Here's a dog sticking her head out of the dog house we transported her in. A nice hot breeze on the way to Las Vegas that day.

We went up I-15 and reached the Nevada border that evening. We stopped to gas up in Primm, Nevada.

After spending the night in Las Vegas, we headed out on the road again in the morning. Here's a picture of the pyramid thingy.

Just another picture of Las Vegas.

Continuing up I-15 past Las Vegas we passed between some cliff sides.

Here's a picture of inside the pass.

Another picture looking up.

I don't remember where this is. It may be Nevada or it may be that tiny stretch of I-15 in Arizona.

Continuing north on I-15 we crossed into Utah from Arizona.

We stopped for food and gas right across the border in St. George, Utah.

Continuing on I-15 through Utah. It's getting greener finally!

We spent the night in an awful air condition-less hotel in Richfield, Utah just off of I-70. This is a picture of two of our dogs shedding all over the place.

I think this is the sign that said Welcome to Colorado. About time!

A lot more greenery in Colorado. Plus there is still some snow on the mountains. It was all very nice looking.

Here is the Colorado River I think. I haven't seen a river in ages that wasn't from an airplane.

Continuing east on I-70 is a very pleasant and scenic drive. Seeing so many green plants at once was amazing. I'm so used to seeing dead shrubs.

I think this was taken outside of Grand Junction, Colorado.

Another shot of the Colorado River.

Some more greenery as we start to head into the mountains.

Another mountain shot. The river is right there alongside the freeway.

Another shot of the mountains.

And yet another mountain shot.

A short break from the mountains. There would be plenty more to come.

A great shot of so many trees. I've never seen them packed in so thick.

It took some climbing but I finally found some snow in June. This was up at about 10,900 feet. The snow was almost gone now as it was plenty warm up there; in the 60s.

And here is a view after we came out of the Rockies on the eastern side. Everything is still so green. The journey is done.
